“One of the successful grant recipients is Art in the Docks, a professional artist-led social enterprise committed to making art and culture accessible to people who otherwise feel excluded, reducing barriers to participation and adding to a sense of inclusiveness.
The Council is funding its ‘Culture Matters’ programme because of its ambitious proposals to engage a vast number of children, young people and adults into an exciting and comprehensive programme of events designed to unleash creative potential and forge better understanding and partnerships through the creative economy in Newham. This culminates in a celebration event in late March, which will see artwork created through the duration of the programme displayed in a community art exhibition located at the Art in the Docks studios in the Royal Docks. We look forward to seeing their exciting vision come to life and provide real opportunities for Newham’s young people and residents to get involved.”
