We are proud to announce the installation of the "Social Art of Braided Hair" exhibition at the Beckton Globe Rotunda for Newham Black History Month 2025. After its celebrated debut last year, this powerful collection now finds a new home, ready to be experienced by a wider audience.
Although historically common in many civilisations: Norse, Greek and Native American, the art of braided hair is firmly rooted in African culture. This short exhibition will showcase braided hair as an art form, and the people who design it as artists.
