CHeX Newham
Creative Health Exchange
As a distributed delivery model across a network of service providers, CHeX Newham is borough-wide consortium that embeds creativity into health, wellbeing, and everyday life. It leverages the best of everything that already exists, avoiding the need to unnecessarily ‘reinvent existing wheels’, simultaneously allowing the widest possible choice of options to prescribers and service beneficiaries.
Vison Overview
CHeX Newham will be a cross-sector partnership bringing together health, culture, community, and research to deliver sustained creative health activity across the London Borough of Newham. Centrally convened, locally delivered, and supported by strategic partners providing clinical pathways, cultural excellence, and system-level influence.
Rather than operating from a central physical space (inaccessible to many people in a borough with poor transport links) service delivery is aligned to an equitably distributed 15-minute neighbourhood model. This minimises the need to travel, utilises existing spaces and optimises the probability of engagement.
The CHeX vison involves maximising the capacity of the largest organisations, simultaneously empowering ‘the little fish’. These existing community level organisations, with deep levels of community trust, are already delivering highly effective creative health related activities, often with inadequate support. By bringing them into the fold, providing centralised resources and management, we create a powerful, community connected cellular model.
Creativity is positioned as essential health infrastructure, not as an optional cultural addition.
