School Programmes
What do we do in schools?
Art in the Docks works with schools to bring creative workshops, wellbeing activities, and participatory arts projects into the classroom. Students explore visual arts, performance, and collaborative making while developing confidence, teamwork, and self-expression.
Projects are designed to support learning, mental health, and social skills, helping young people engage creatively, feel empowered, and connect with their peers and the wider community.

Art in the Docks brings creative workshops to Newham primary schools, helping children explore art, build confidence, and express themselves. The National Curriculum for Art in England for primary aged children is a scant two-page document; many teachers find it uninspiring or lacking guidance. Our programme supports learning, wellbeing, and social skills while inspiring creativity and community connections.

Pupils respond with excitement, curiosity, and creativity, enjoying hands-on projects that let them experiment, collaborate, and express themselves. Many gain confidence in their abilities and a sense of pride in their work.
Teachers value the workshops as practical, engaging, and supportive, helping them deliver creative learning in line with the curriculum. They often highlight how sessions boost student engagement, teamwork, and wellbeing, while inspiring new ideas for classroom practice.

Students develop creativity, confidence, and self-expression. They build teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, while enjoying hands-on, engaging art experiences. Workshops support wellbeing, inspire pride in their work, and foster curiosity and motivation across learning. Teachers gain practical ideas, resources, and strategies to deliver creative learning. They benefit from support in engaging pupils, enhancing wellbeing, and bringing new energy and inspiration into the classroom.
