Midsummer Magic
Midsummer Night’s Dream
Join us for a special edition of Saturday Kids Club- creative workshops followed by a kid-friendly production of Midsummer Night's Dream
Families are invited to tumble headfirst into a world of fairy magic, theatrical chaos, and larger-than-life laughter in Midsummer Magic, a vibrant children’s adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Specially reimagined for young audiences, the production shines a spotlight on the wonderfully chaotic Mechanicals—a group of enthusiastic amateur actors determined to put on the greatest play ever staged—while deep in the enchanted forest, mischievous fairies led by magical tricksters conjure confusion, wonder, and unexpected friendships. Packed with playful storytelling, physical comedy, and moments of joyful audience delight, this retelling introduces children to Shakespeare through imagination, humour, and heart.
At its centre, this production celebrates the magic of creativity and the courage it takes to perform, no matter how silly things get along the way. As the Mechanicals stumble through rehearsals and the fairies weave spells that don’t always go to plan, young audiences are drawn into a whimsical adventure full of music, laughter, and theatrical surprises.
Ahead of the performance, children and families are warmly invited to take part in a hands-on creative workshop at Art in the Docks studio, where imaginations can run wild through themed arts and crafts inspired by the show. Participants will have the exciting opportunity to make fairy-inspired creations, playful theatrical crafts, and may even help create props and set pieces that will appear in the production itself—offering a unique chance to become part of the magic on stage. Celebrating creativity, collaboration, and the joy of making theatre together, the workshop and performance promise a memorable experience for children and families alike.
By donation to join, suitable for all ages, and all materials and equipment will be provided.
These workshops are funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and supported by the Notting Hill Genesis Love While You Live Fund.

Creative Health and Wellbeing: Introduction to Sculpture
Introduction to Sculpture
A two‑hour Introduction to Sculpture session opens with a warm welcome and a look at classical inspiration, drawing on the approaches of Michelangelo, Bernini, and Rodin to understanding form.
Participants begin with an observational warm‑up using historical references before moving into the fundamentals of proportion—learning how to measure in three dimensions, identify key axes, and translate scale from a reference object using callipers or visual triangulation. To ground this learning in a tangible classical example, the sculptural reference for the session is a single facial feature from Michelangelo’s David, offering a clear, elegant introduction to dimension, proportion, and the expressive subtleties of the human face.
The workshop then shifts into hands‑on clay work, where learners begin applying and shaping clay directly on a base, working in planes, blocking in major forms, and gradually building detail through attentive looking.
The session closes with a reflective group conversation, inviting participants to share their discoveries and challenges.
These sessions are open to everyone, from complete beginners to accomplished artists. Tickets are available in a limited quantity by donation. Please reserve your spot using the link below.
