Hernan Guardamagna

Hernan Guardamagna is a London-based artist educator, and designer whose practice is rooted in craftsmanship, originality, and sustainability. Trained in fashion design and later completing an MA in Footwear at the Royal College of Art, he developed a strong foundation in both creative and rational approaches to design. His background in fashion and footwear informs the way he approaches materials, processes, and making, with a focus on experimentation, handcraft, and responsible consumption.

As an artist educator, he creates and leads workshops that invite participants to explore design, sustainability, and making in playful and accessible ways. Hernan brings the same passion for craftsmanship that shapes their design practice into the classroom, encouraging creativity as a tool for curiosity, self-expression, and collaboration. His workshops are inclusive and socially engaging, often using discarded or recycled materials to highlight sustainable ways of working while sparking imagination.

Through his work, he has developed and delivered workshops across a wide range of practices, including 3D model-making with mixed recycled media, architecture-inspired projects, fashion and textile design, observational and perspective drawing, block and relief printing, collage, screen printing, and tie-dye techniques. He also places a strong emphasis on material awareness, sustainable thinking, research and conceptual development, visual communication through mood boards and sketches, and the use of peer review and critical reflection. These skills shape his practice as an artist educator and underpin the creative, hands-on learning environments he designs for schools, charities, and community organisations
