Buzzapalooza

A celebration of our Bee-utiful community

On June 6th, families, community members, students, and artists gathered together at Art in the Docks to join Buzzapalooza!

The day started with community gardening. Residents of all ages came together to transform the ten adopted planting beds around Pumphouse Square. What had previously been largely barren spaces began to evolve into something much more hopeful and uplifting. One of the two largest planting beds has been dedicated to Rich, a well-loved and missed member of the community.

Our constant mission to make the first Hanging Gardens of Beckton continued with a plant stall, allowing the community to plant their very own greens and encouraging them to begin a garden of their own.

Pavlin Ivanov from Bermondsey Street Bees joined in the festivities and offered a unique opportunity to observe live bees with his portable hive. Many people also indulged in a sweet pot of RAW Honey.

Before the parade kicked off, participants got buzz-y making pollinator themed crafts to get in the spirit, including flower crowns and large bumble bees.

The Honey Bee Brass Band brought music to our community picnic, and afterwards led us into the parade.

To finish, we danced, marched, and buzzed about, celebrating the joy of good company, music, and community.
